The Bembridge Centre
In 1994 the Charity bought the former Park Building, which was no longer in use by the Park Church congregation, which had moved into its adjacent Sunday School building in 1980. A long and expensive programme of re-development saved the grade two listed building from collapse by converting it into basement workshops and office space etc.
Presently the ground floor is let to SCOPE (former Spastics Society) for use as a 'state of the art' training and day centre; to the Pre School Learning Alliance as an office and resource centre; and to D.A.M.B.A. as an office from which to operate a minibus service for people with disabilities. The first floor is let to a commercial organisation. The mezzanine floor is vacant, but hopefully it will not be long before it is re-let. The property is managed for the Charity by a local estates management company. Once the mezzanine floor is re-let, the property will produce a significant surplus and once the loans have been repaid, this will be a substantial income producing asset, providing, subject to maintenance costs, a degree of financial security for the Charity and a source from which it can further the Group's community and mission objectives.
