Alpha

Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith is welcome on the course.

Learning and laughter. It is possible to learn more about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time.

Pasta and pudding. Often Alpha includes a meal - a great opportunity to get to know each other.

Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised in the talks.

Ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is regarded as too simple or hostile.

What is Alpha and who is it for?

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about the Christian faith. It particularly caters for:

  1. those wanting to investigate Christianity
  2. newcomers to the Church
  3. new Christians
  4. those who want to brush up on the basics, based around a meal, a talk (usually on video) and discussion in small groups - it's relaxed, non-threatening, thought provoking and fun! It is supported by all the main Christian denominations. It covers a range of topics such as: Who is Jesus? Why and how do I pray? Does God heal today?

What others have gained from previous Alpha Courses...

What did they most enjoy? The coming together of a group of like-minded people in congenial surroundings. Friendly, open discussion "The simple way a very complex subject was taught" I was charmed by Nicky Gumbel's light delivery of the teachings and person of Jesus. The Alpha course was delivered in a very 'gentle' way, in which one 'felt safe'.
